Chapter 2699: Love and Beauty Devotees

Because 9527 was speaking his native language, he subconsciously overlooked the issue of communication.

He only realized this when he couldn't understand anything the person in the wheelchair had just said.

Throughout history, intelligence has been the most crucial element in warfare. If he couldn't even understand what others were saying, how could he possibly gather information?

He knew there were only a few passengers from different worlds on this ship. But once they reached the Land of Dreams, he wondered how many visitors from countless other worlds they would encounter. If he couldn't understand anything then, it would be a dead end.

If he had known this, he would have asked 9527 about the language issue when he was receiving the free information. Now, if he were to ask, he had no idea what price he would have to pay.

At that moment, 9527 led him through the bar to a room at the back. The room was empty. Noticing Zu An's surprised expression, 9527 smiled slightly and explained, "Since each guest comes from a different world, and to respect their individual preferences and habits, it's difficult for us to create a unified décor. Therefore, we decided to let guests furnish their own rooms."

"Furnish it myself?" Zu An asked, somewhat surprised.

9527 lightly tapped a crystal ball on a nearby table. The crystal ball immediately lit up. He explained, "Place your hand on this crystal ball, then imagine the room you are most accustomed to, the one that makes you most comfortable."

Zu An instinctively placed his hand on it. The surrounding scenery shifted rapidly: one moment it was a room in Brightmoon City, then the courtyard villa on Jade Spring Mountain at the academy, and then a room in the imperial palace...

He was startled and quickly withdrew his hand.

9527 smiled faintly and said, "Now you can freely set the style of your room. This is a guest's privacy, so I shouldn't stay here any longer. For meals, you can go to the restaurant I mentioned earlier, or you can ask a server to bring food to your door. I wish you a pleasant journey."

As 9527 finished speaking and was about to leave, Zu An quickly called out to him. He explained his current predicament and then asked, "How do other guests solve the language problem?"

"Powerful individuals from various worlds often interact with the outside and generally know some mainstream languages," 9527 said, slightly taken aback. "Doesn't your world have any language books?"

Zu An shook his head. "Aside from a few secret realms, our world has never communicated with other civilizations."

The Demon World was arguably the only civilization he had communicated with; he had learned the True Demon language back then. However, the True Demon language was clearly not a mainstream language across the myriad worlds.

"That's a bit troublesome then," 9527 said. "The reason I can communicate with you is because, based on the invitation, the Guild knew your world in advance, so they provided me with a language translator for your world." As he spoke, he removed a small patch from his throat. The subsequent unintelligible sounds he made were completely incomprehensible to Zu An.

Seemingly realizing something, he quickly reattached the patch to his throat. "My apologies," he said, "I was just focused on demonstrating."

He then continued, "I have a few spares. Since we are friends, I can give you one. However, this type of translator only supports the languages of the civilizations of a few guests on board, as well as the languages of some powerful factions. It cannot translate languages from other civilizations."

Zu An was overjoyed. "Brother, your kindness is deeply engraved in my heart; I will certainly repay it in the future!"

9527, however, seemed somewhat concerned. "Don't be too quick to thank me. This translator only works because it's connected to our starship's information database, allowing for real-time translation. Once you reach the Land of Dreams, which is very unique, signals can barely get through, and this translator will become useless."

"So there are no offline translators?" Zu An couldn't help but ask.

9527 was somewhat surprised, not expecting the other party to understand the concept of "offline." "The Guild does have offline translators," he explained, "but they are very expensive. Across the myriad worlds, information itself is extremely precious. Moreover, there are too many civilizations in the universe, and their languages are as vast as the sea of stars. Even if an offline translator only contains the data for a few mainstream civilization languages, the data volume is enormous, making them exceptionally expensive."

"Given that you don't have any credit points yet, you'll have to trade items," 9527 continued. "Prepare to see what you're willing to exchange. I'll go help you apply for an offline translator. The process for such a valuable item takes a considerable amount of time, so you'd best confirm you have suitable items for exchange before the higher-ups approve it."

After saying this, he hurried away.

Zu An immediately fell into deep thought in the room, wondering what he could possibly possess that the Universal Guild would find valuable enough to trade for.

The Singularity World would certainly qualify, but he could never use it for exchange.

The Divine Dragon Elixir of Immortality should also be acceptable, but...

As he was contemplating, a knock suddenly sounded from outside the door.

"Who is it?"

"I heard there's a new guest on board. Since we're traveling together, I came to say hello."

The voice outside the door was exceptionally sweet and full of energy. Even through the door, he could imagine that the person was definitely a vibrant young girl.

Zu An's recent exhausting experiences had left him with no desire to flirt or get involved romantically. He was about to flatly refuse, but then his heart stirred; the other party had just spoken in his native language.

So he went and opened the door. Outside stood an exquisitely pretty girl in a red dress, looking like a favored daughter of heaven.

With Zu An's current discerning eye, he had to admit that her appearance was top-notch. Even in the cultivation world, only a very few could compare.

When the girl saw Zu An, her eyes lit up. "You're quite handsome," she said, "not ugly like those other guys."

Zu An was speechless.

He naturally found it awkward to respond, lest he unknowingly incur the enmity of the other guests. "Are you also a guest on this ship, young lady?" he asked. "Why didn't I see you earlier in the bar?"

The red-clad girl pursed her lips. "Just looking at those guys' faces is enough to make me lose my appetite for three days," she scoffed. "Why would I go to the bar with them?"

Zu An recalled the people in the bar just now: the black-robed old woman was horrifically ugly, the old man in the wheelchair seemed to have a disfigured face, and the slightly more normal transparent man was bald. Compared to them, the girl before him was truly like a celestial being.

"Oh, right, my name is Yan Hua. What's yours?" the red-clad girl asked, her large, shimmering eyes with their dark, upturned lashes fluttering visibly.

"You are indeed as beautiful as a firework. My name is Zu An." Zu An couldn't help but sigh; conversations with good-looking people were truly pleasant.

"You're good-looking and you speak nicely, but your name is a bit lacking," the red-clad girl lightly snorted. "Are you just going to stand here and chat with me, or are you going to invite me in to sit down?"

"A single man and woman alone might not be appropriate," Zu An said.

"What's with all these silly rules?" she retorted. "I just want a place to sit down and chat."

Since the other party had put it that way, Zu An naturally found it hard to refuse. He invited her inside, while secretly remaining vigilant.

Anyone who could get on this ship was unlikely to be a naive young girl; her proactive approach might conceal malicious intent.

"Is this the style of your world? It's full of aesthetics everywhere. When can you take me to visit?" the red-clad girl asked, surveying the room's decor and nodding repeatedly.

The room was furnished by Zu An to resemble the villa room on Jade Spring Mountain. Hearing her words, he smiled slightly and asked, "Since you care so much about beauty, do you perhaps worship the God of Love and Beauty?"

The red-clad girl blinked. "It's not very polite to ask a lady about her faith right away," she said, "but since you're so good-looking, I'll tell you: I do indeed worship the God of Love and Beauty. Your appearance already meets the criteria for love and beauty, so why don't you join me in worshipping the God of Beauty?"

Zu An was speechless.

He never expected this woman to ask him to change his faith the moment they met.

He lightly coughed. "But as far as I know," he said, "the God of Love and Beauty seems to have fallen?"

This was a good opportunity to gather some information from her.
